Mr. Sarbajit Singh is a painter, cartoonist, filmmaker, writer of national and international acclaim. He is also a visiting faculty in institutions like National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. At present his passion lies in two domains – Graphic Novels/Comics and Filmmaking. He was awarded the best director for his debut film ‘Painting in Time’ on the tradition of Thangka (Tibetan painted scroll) in Sikkim in the category of documentaries from the Indian Government. Sarbajit held exhibitions of his paintings in Kolkata, Chicago and Beijing. The Days & Nights of Netuk, an ethnographic study of the Lepchas in north Sikkim, was made in association with YLE, Finland. He made comic strips and cartoons for some leading dailies in Kolkata. He has also scripted and directed 6 full-length telefilms for the popular Bengali television channel, ETV Bangla. Sarbajit holds a masters in English literature of the University of Calcutta.
