Montu is a health economist. His areas of expertise include Sustainable Health Financing, Public Sector Management, Environmental Health, Sustainable Health Systems and Epidemiological Transition. Montu holds a PhD from Calcutta University. He is a regular contributor on his areas in national and international journals of high impact factor. He has also presented papers in many national and international conferences, seminars and symposia. He has the distinction of being the first Indian recipient of the prestigious GNHE (Global Network for Health Equity) Fellowship, during 2013-14. Presently, he is engaged as a full-time faculty with the TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi. He is also a visiting faculty at University of Delhi. His experience includes serving Jadavpur University and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). He also worked as a Departmental Research Support Project Fellow (DRS-I), Department of Economics, University of Calcutta.
